Draw Edit and Write diffs as two side-by-side columns instead of one stacked list

This mod redraws the diff of every Edit and Write in two columns: removed lines on the left, added lines on the right, each side keeping its real line numbers, with changed words tinted when the pair fits on one row. Files updated by a Bash command get the same drawing. Colors come from Claude Code's own diff theme keys, so they follow your /theme, and syntax highlighting comes from Claude Code's own highlighter. The /diffsplit command opens a pane titled Split Diff that shows all uncommitted changes of the working directory against HEAD, untracked files included, with a clickable file list and foldable per-file diffs.

Where you see it
It shows up in the diff Claude Code prints after a file edit, and as a Split Diff pane opened with /diffsplit.
Good for
For anyone who reads file changes in Claude Code and wants removed and added lines side by side with line numbers preserved.
Know before you install
  • Needs Claude Code v2.1.287 or later, and mods must be allowed to load (not started with --safe-mode or --bare).
  • Only Edit, Write and the file updates of Bash are redrawn; errors, brand-new files and the permission prompt keep Claude Code's normal drawing.
  • The drawing part works in the terminal and the Desktop app's Code tab, and the Bash diff relies on an internal field of the Bash result that can change in any release.
