Draw mermaid blocks from Claude's replies as coloured ASCII art in the transcript

mermaid-draw replaces every ```mermaid block Claude writes with rendered ASCII box art, coloured and placed where the fence was. It supports flowcharts, state, sequence, class and ER diagrams and xy charts, laid out left to right when that saves rows. Rendering runs locally in the plugin, costs no tokens, and caches the art per source so later draws settle in a few milliseconds.

Where you see it
It appears inside the assistant's reply in the transcript, where the mermaid fence would have been, with no extra pane or buttons.
Good for
For terminal users who want Claude's flowcharts and diagrams drawn directly in the transcript instead of as code blocks.
Know before you install
  • Needs function hooks: set CLAUDE_CODE_ENABLE_FUNCTION_HOOKS=1, since this early access API can change between releases.
  • Only works in an interactive terminal with box-drawing characters; nothing draws in claude -p, and colours are terminal only, with plain art in desktop, VS Code and mobile.
  • Diagram kinds beyond flowchart, state, sequence, class, ER and xy charts keep their fence, and art wider than the transcript is cut off at the right.

  • Saves its own data between sessions
  • Draws in the Claude Code interface
